The Believer's Conditional Security : Eternal Security Refuted, by Daniel D. Corner

This fully-documented, 801-page volume will take the reader from the origin of eternal security or once saved, always saved (OSAS) to the present time, as the contemporary OSAS teachers of our day are quoted hundreds of times and their teachings are examined under the light of God's truth. If you are like many, among other things, you will be shocked to learn that the teaching of OSAS is sometimes equated to grace and the gospel! Furthermore, the chapters exposing Calvin's dark side and unmasking the Synod of Dort (1618-1619), will give a factual, historical account that seems to be little known in our day. But most importantly, hundreds of Scriptures are cited in both offensive and defensive ways that will substantiate The Believer's Conditional Security.

OSAS Bomb Shell
By LP
I purchased "The Believers Conditional Security" may years ago, and in my opinion it completely dismantles the Once Saved Always Saved' (OSAS) position. I was raised a Baptist that taught OSAS, and at one point in my life (a season of rebellion), I thought that I could live and sin anyway that I wanted because I would go to heaven anyway(OSAS). I know the OSAS crowd will say I probably wasn't saved at that point in my life and became saved after I sincerely and honestly repented. Folks, grace doesn't allow us to sin with impunity and think we have a right standing with God. I Corinthians 6:9-12 totally destroys the OSAS position, for brevity I wont list the all the verses (That will be good exercise for those people who don't read their Bibles to look up the scriptures for themselves). 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 gives a list of sins that will keep a person out of Heaven. God is no respector of persons. An unsaved man / woman will face the same fate as a Christian who commits such acts of disobedience and dies before they repent. What the verse is saying is, if you commit such acts you won't go to Heaven(notice no distintion is made between the believer or unbeliever). The good news is the hope that is given in the last part of the verse which states "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God". Now some of you are probably thinking see once saved always Saved...they were sanctified by the Precious Blood of Jesus. But we cannot take one verse out of context and make a conclusion based on one scripture. Now go to 2Peter 2:20-21 and see what happens when we return back to a life of sin after we have been reborn. There are many verses that superficially appear to support the positionof OSAS, but when you compare precept to precept and verse to verse one logically has to conclude that OSAS is not a 100% true statement. The Bible does not contradict itself as many have said. I believe that God structured the Bible in such a fashion that people would have to diligently and prayerfully seek Him out.(You cant get that without reading God's Word daily and digging deep into it). Do you really think that a saved person who later commits those sins in 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 will get by free and the unsaved man wont? I hardly think so for the Bible clearly states that a person who sins and doesn't know he is sinning will be beaten with a few stripes, but the person who knew right from wrong, yet chooses to do wrong will be beaten with many stripes, Folks, Jesus didn't get beaten beyond recognition, spat upon, nailed to the cross, so that we could sin after salvation. He came to save that which is lost, and not for His grace to be trampled under foot. I do believe the verse thatsays no one can pluck them(believers out of my hand), but nowhere does it say that a person can later walk away and become a non believer. God gives us free will. Also, if you look carefully at the promises for Eternal life, you would be amazed at how many times a conditional clause is included in the promise of eternal life. The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 stated that he too would be considered a castaway, in spite of all his preaching if he did not keep his body insubjection(keepfrom sinning or giving into the ungodly desires of the flesh. Here are some more verses that you can look up and see for yourselves what is the truth concerning OSAS.
1. Numbers 15:22-31
2. Deuteronomy 28:1-68 & 29:10-29
3. Proverbs 1:23-33
4. Proverbs 28:12-18
5. Romans 11:11-24 (pay special attention to verse 22)
6. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and tie that in with 2 Peter 2:20-21
7. Hebrew 6:4-6 & 10:26-31
8. 1 John 5:16-18
9. Revelation 2:1-5
10. Revelation 21:6-8(God makes no distinction here between the saved & unsaved. He is no respecter of person).
11. I saved this one for last because I think this is the absolute bombshell that destoys OSAS. God says what He means & means what He says. Here is the Chapter and verses. Carefullyread them Ezekiel 33:1-20 (especially verses 14-19)

I must close in saying to my Lord and God Jesus Christ, please forgive me If I have misqouted or taken your Word out of context. I do not what to lead anyone astray, and I myself desire to know you more and more daily. And if all the words I have spoken are true, open the heartand minds ofthe people reading this for time is short. come Lord Jesus come. Amen

GREAT FOR PRESENTING THE ENTIRE TOPIC
By A Customer
I have been interested in the topic of the believers security since I believed in the Lord back in the early 70s. At one time I embraced this view! The problem I had was what to do with all the warning passages. If I integrate all the warnings with all the promises and apply the same plain method of interpretation, I arrive at a conditional security position. Dan's book is great for presenting the entire topic, warnings and promises. He also deals with the history of this doctrine thoroughly and discusses what the early church believed prior to its inception with Augustin. Many WEB sites that hold to OSAS only present a laundry list of the promise passages but they are unbalanced because they do not deal with the warning passages. Or they will apply an exegetical approach to the promises and eisegetical approach to the warnings in order to rescue their beliefs from what the Bible actually teaches. The differences in Dan's approach and the OSAS crowd is that Dan builds a Biblical theology while the OSAS adherents use select portions of the Bible to support their preconceived dogma. All interested in this topic should take advantage of the thorough, balanced approach presented in Dan's book.

No Stone Unturned
By Robert K. Davis
I just purchased this book and I am taken back by the amount of research and documentation that has gone into it. He deals with all the "prooftext" that are used. Offers alternative ideas and backs them up with scripture. Many of the books and people he quotes are edited (for space)and so the context can't be checked out. Some of the books he refers to are out of print and hard to come by. Mr. Corner writes with passion and gives the reader a lot to think about. He is a man and he is sharing his ideas, but its important for the Christian to look at both sides of a doctrinal issue and not just except something because a radio preacher or pastor speaks it to be true. "Be not decieved" "Hold to sound doctrine" This book is one that I will study a lot. This is a big issue today and is one that all Believers will face if they share thier faith with anyone. The author takes people to task. He writes them letters and offers to debate those who will openly discuss the issue. He is not shy, but rather bold in his approach. He has opened the door for those who disagree (and there are many) to counter his charges and let the chips fall. Mr. Corner, gives a great history about the doctrine and where it got its start. Every Christian should read and consider what this man has to say.
