Jeffrey Baldani received his BA from the University of Kentucky and PhD from Cornell University. He has taught economics at Colgate University since 1982. His teaching interests include mathematical economics, game theory, and applied microeconomics.

James Bradfield received his BA and Phd from the University of Rochester. He has taught economics at Hamilton College since 1976. His teaching interests include principles of economics, mathematical economics, microeconomics, and financial markets.

Robert W. Turner received his BA from Oberlin College and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has taught economics at Colgate University since 1983. His teaching interests include econometrics, mathematical economics, public and environmental economics, and principles of economics.

Class Book

My professor had us buy this book for a course, a class using econ and math together. In this book every odd chapter goes over math, the even chapters goes over Econ theory and how to apply math to them. The book was a simple read, but I feel that with supplemental reading from the professor I was able to understand the book's material better. BUT for $10, this book is a great read if you want read how to bridge econ and math.

The quality of the book is awesome, practically new. More importantly it was shipped right away. I'm a state over from California so it got to me in less than 5 days. Don't remember the exact number ~3. That was awesome because this book goes along with my first graduate class. It allowed me to start reading right away. I didn't fall behind in class waiting for it to get to me. Never write reviews, but I want to do this person a solid like they did me. Thank you.

I'm interested in primary care sports medicine and this book is a great resource for me. Great for examinations, differentials and treatments. The really good thing about it is the end of each section shows what exercises/PT should be done and the included DVD can print this out as a patient handout. The only weak point is that the anatomy is a little sketchy so you would need to read another text to get that down.

About the Author

Je-Chin Han is a Distinguished Professor, the Marcus C. Easterling Endowed Chair in Mechanical Engineering, and director of the Turbine Heat Transfer Laboratory at Texas A&M University. An ASME fellow, Dr. Han has authored more than 380 technical publications and has received numerous honors, including the ASME K-14 Warren Rohsenow Prize, AIAA Thermophysics Award, ISROMAC Award, and ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award. His work on gas turbine blade cooling has greatly impacted the development of high-efficiency gas turbine engines for aircraft and land-based power generation applications.

About the Author
Sean Bennett is a former program coordinator for the Truck and Diesel Department at Centennial College, as well as a former corporate trainer for Mack Trucks. During a 20-year tenure at the college he authored new curricula, helped overhaul existing course offerings, and chaired a wide range of curriculum development committees for the Province of Ontario. Bennett has written more than 30 books dealing with diesel, truck, heavy equipment, and automotive technology and currently devotes his career to technical writing and speaking engagements. He is an active member of the American Trucking Association's Technology and Maintenance Council, the Association of Diesel Specialists, the Society of Automotive Engineers, and the North American Council of Automotive Teachers. He is widely regarded as the foremost author in medium/heavy duty truck technology.

Very outdated

This book is quite overpriced for very outdated information. It is A 2011 copyrighted edition but so much information is pre-2010. In many chapters, the author talks about new technology or legislation possibly coming for 2010 but this edition is supposed to be 2011. What happened to the update? Also, there are missing diagrams, pictures, and charts. The text points to to a certain Figure, but the figure is missing or wrong. I lost count of how many grammatical errors I found and highlighted in this book. There is NO information on the Volvo i-shift transmission. And again, why is there NO ANSWER KEY for the questions? Although the book is loaded with information, it needs a real update. I must say, however, that I have been using this book and "Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Technician Certification, Test Preparation Manual," by Don Knowles (read my review for that book), and I have passed 4 ASE certification (Fall 2011) tests on the first attempt.

Burg (coauthor, The World Almanac of the American Revolution, Pharos, 1992) competently delivers a narrative summary and chronology of major events in the United States and throughout the world during the Depression. He offers seven chapters, each covering one or more years; brief contemporary quotations from politicians, journalists, authors, and advertisements; and 80 black-and-white photographs. The appendixes contain a selection of primary sources, mainly New Deal statutes and other documents, and capsule biographies. The focus is somewhat different from that of existing reference series such as Britannica's "Annals of America," which is stronger on primary sources, and Time-Life's "This Fabulous Century," which offers better photographs. More recent competition comes from Victor Bondi's American Decades, 1930-1939 (Gale, 1995), which has a topical arrangement, a more attractive layout, and greater scope beyond politics but lacks the quotations.
